Tatar Opera and Ballet Theatre to present national opera Suyumbike

(Kazan, 30 December, Tatar-inform, Lucia Kamalova). Early in 2017, Tatar Opera and Ballet Theatre after Musa Jalil will present to the audience a national opera called Suyumbike, theatre’s director Raful Mukhametzyanov told a briefing on the results of Year of Culture at Tatarstan House of Government.

“The new national opera Suyumbike, whose authors are Renat Kharis and Rezeda Akhiyarova, has been launched today. The show will be completed, I think, early in 2017, because it is a large project. The libretto has been written, it is quiet topical and relevant for today. It is going to be historical truth,” R. Mukhametzyanov shared.

Jalil Theatre’s director went on to add that Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had supported the project and performance was expected to be staged by Yuri Alexandrov.

Besides, the theatre is preparing for a landmark premiere, Mass In B Minor, produced by Vladimir Vasiliev. On 14-15 April, the show will take place at Jalil Opera and Ballet Theatre, and on 18 April at Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre.
