Nureyev International Ballet Festival in Kazan to conclude with two galas

Kazan, 28 May, Tatar-inform). The 28th Nureyev Classical Ballet Festival concludes in Kazan with two galas. The best acts will be performed by domestic and foreign ballet stars at Tatar State Opera and Ballet Theatre on 28 and 29 May. Dancing mastery will be demonstrated by Vienna State Opera’s Lyudmila Konovalova, Covent Garden’s Matthew Golding, Rachele Buriassi and Alexander Jones of the Stuttgart Ballet, Oksana Bondareva of the Mariinsky Theatre, and others. 

The 28th Nureyev festival opened on 15 May with the premiere of a new version of Ludwig Minkus’ Don Quixote ballet. The programme included the best classical shows: Swan Lake, Gisele and La Bayadere. The 20th century classics were represented by Anyuta, based on Valery Gavrilin’s music and staged by Vladimir Vasiliev. Included in the programme were two auteur performances: Golden Horde by Rezeda Akhiyarova, staged by Georgy Kovtun, and Carmina Burana or Wheel of Fortune mystery play based on music by Carl Orff. Republic of Belarus National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre took part in the festival as well.
