Tatar Opera and Ballet Theatre concludes European tour

Оver the month and a half the artists gave 33 performances abroad.

(Kazan, 25 November, Tatar-inform). Last weekend, the Tatar Opera and Ballet theatre’s opera company concluded its European tour. Over the month and a half the artists gave 33 performances abroad. The Pearl Fishers opera was presented in Rotterdam, Gouda, Haarlem, Amsterdam and other cities.

“The shows were a great success. The Pearl Fishers opera is rarely performed in both Russia and abroad, and therefore enjoys great popularity. We took the show on a European tour for the sixth time. In Amsterdam the performance was watched by dignitaries, officials from the embassy of Russia in the Netherlands. The tour enjoyed full houses throughout, the audience giving us ovations after the shows. Of course, it is the merit of both the highly skilled singers and stage directors. The opera was first staged in 2003 but has still not lost its charm,” theatre’s deputy director Yuri Larionov shared.

Immediately after the return, the company began rehearsals of its current repertoire. The soonest shows are scheduled for 27 November (Aida by Verdi) and 30 November (The Barber of Seville by Rossini).

The theatre’s opera company is scheduled to go on its next tour to Europe in the spring of 2015, theatre’s press service reports.
