Opera company goes on tour to Europe

Two 9-tonne trucks with scenery and costumes have been sent to the Netherlands.

The opera company of the Tatar Academic State Opera and Ballet Theatre after Musa Jalil will tomorrow leave for a two-month tour in Europe.

The first performance will take place on October 4 in Dronten, the Netherlands, where a new production of Gaetano Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor will be shown. Besides, the tour programme includes Verdi’s The Troubadour. In total, the two plays will be shown 35 times in two months.

The theatre is to perform in the kingdom’s largest cities including Amsterdam, the Hague, Rotterdam and Gauda. The cast includes the theatre’s soloists Albina Shagimuratova, Vladimir Vasiliev, Yuri Ivashin, Yuri Petrov, Svetlana Smirnova, the choir and the orchestra, as well as guest soloists.

Two trucks carrying over 9 tonnes and 180 cubic metres in scenery and costumes for the plays have left for Holland, the theatre’s press service has said.
