Kristina Andreeva on Big Ballet project: “Most importantly, we should not be a disgrace to our theatre”

(Kazan, October 29, Tatar-inform, Maria Kirukhina). Taking part in the Big Ballet project was very exciting, because world artists and stars were members of the jury and some very good dancers were among the participants, project’s participants representing the Tatarstan’s Jalil Opera and Ballet Theatre, Kristina Andreeva and Oleg Ivenko, said at a news conference at Tatar-inform.

“We have very nice impressions from the project. We have known many of the Big Ballet participants since other competitions. It is interesting for us to compete with them, look at their level and show ours. We are getting a great pleasure from the project,” Kristina Andreeva shared.

“It is very pleasing that our theatre was included in the project, along with the Bolshoi, Mariin, Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko ones, as well as theatres from Yekaterinburg and Perm,” Oleg Ivenko enhanced.

They had performed various acts, both contemporary and classic choreography, the dancers said.

“This was difficult. We do not have much experience with contemporary choreography, so preparing an act in 5-6 days was incredibly hard,” Kristina Andereeva said.

All the project’s participants were their main rivals, the duet went on to say.

“They all are, indeed, because the theatre’s very best are gathered there. This is why competing within the project is not that easy,” Ivenko said. “We are happy we were chosen to participate the project and we simply want to represent our theatre worthily, show what we know how to do.”

“Most importantly, we should not be a disgrace to our theatre. This is it,” Andreeva concluded.

Kristina Andreeva and Oleg Ivenko are young ballet stars, who had over the recent years taken part in over 10 Russian and international competitions, winning or being runner-ups in nearly all of them, theatre’s press secretary Zhanna Melnikova said.

“This speaks volumes. They are people used to winning, who want to show themselves and are hardening their character. They are true fighters. I am sure they will perform as successfully in all their future tours,” she added.
