Tatar Opera and Ballet Theatre opens new season

The Tatar State Opera and Ballet Theatre opened this year’s season with Puccini’s spectacular masterpiece Turandot on the 23rd September 2012. Conducted by the theatre director Michael Pandzhavidze the lavish production depicts a tale of a princess veiling her fear of love under the cruelty mask and features glorious music, including the popular aria “Nessun Dorma”. The tragic finale is the hallmark of Pandzhavidze’s work who has decided to reject Franco Alfano’s completion of Turandot.

The 2012-2013 season program of the theatre is traditionally framed in a classical manner bringing outstanding Carmen, La Traviata, Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty and Nutckacker performances to great acclaim of the public. During the Universiade 2013 Summer Games the theatre will display the best productions of world-known Rudolf Nuriev Ballet and Fyodor Shalyapin Opera international festivals together with authentic Tatar and Russian performances.

Next year’s autumn season will be marked by The Golden Hordes’ new production that has been worked upon within the last two years.
