Tatar Opera Theatre's principal Albina Shagimuratova wins Golden Mask award

(Kazan, April 16, Tatar-inform, Maria Kirukhina). Albina Shagimuratova has won the national theatre award Golden Mask in the nomination Best Female Part for the part of Lucia di Lammermoor in the opera Lucia di Lammermoor, staged by the Tatar Opera and Ballet Theatre after Jalil.

Other nominees in the Opera/Best Female Part category, along Albina Shagimuratova, were Khibla Gerzmava, Larisa Dadkova, as well as a young Kazan Music College graduate Venera Gimadieva and others.

Lucia di Lammermoor was nominated for the Golden Mask in four categories, including Best Opera Play, Best Direction (Mikhail Panjavidze), Best Female Part (Albina Shagimuratova) and Best Music Theatre Designer (Igor Grinevich).

The opera was staged in September 2010 and in April 2012 was shown in Moscow, on the Bolshoi Theatre’s new stage, within the Golden Mask festival.

Albina Shagimuratova in 2004 graduated from the Moscow Conservatoire’s vocal department. In 2004-2006 she was a Stanislavsky and Nemirovich Danchenko Music Theatre’s lead singer. In 2006-2008 she took training with the Houston Opera. She has since 2008 been a lead singer at the Tatar Opera and Ballet Theatre after Jalil.

Albina is a People’s Artiste of Tatarstan and winner of the Republic of Tatarstan State Prize.
