Famous ballerina Diana Vishneva to perform in Kazan at invitation of Tatarstan President

(Kazan, April 12, Tatar-inform, Lucia Kamalova). One of the present-day’s busiest world ballerinas, Diana Vishneva, has for the first time, at the invitation of President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, come to Kazan, she told a news conference in the Jalil Opera and Ballet Theatre’s pink parlour.

Other news conference participants were Ballet Promotion Fund president and ballerina’s father Viktor Vishnev and America ballet star Marcelo Gomes (New York).

“Coming to Kazan is a great pleasure for me,” Diana Vishneva conceded in the beginning. “I thought about it for quite a while, received proposals, but due to a tight schedule was unable to come here, including for the Nuriev Festival.”

A new ballet project called “Diana Vishneva: Dialogues” last year premiered in Saint-Petersburg with the participation of the Diana Vishneva Fund, the ballerina said.

“The project turned out to be very successful. I invited President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov to attend the premiere, and he came. We met and he said I had to come and perform in Kazan. then I had an idea to hold a festival. I asked about the festival and he said why not.”

The festival was thoroughly prepared and although funding was tight, the festival worked out. She promised it would not be her last appearance in Kazan, adding she would perform with the best dancers.

American Ballet Theatre star Marcelo Gomes conceded he liked being in Kazan and said the Kazan audience were in for the best choreography in Giselle.

“Diana Vishneva is the best dancer who makes you better. Our partnership gets stronger and develops after every time we appear onstage together. It is a wonderful sensation, when we are onstage together, I am very lucky, I am happy to perform with Diana,” he said.

On 13-15 April, a festival named after the globally famous ballerina Diana Vishneva will take place on the stage of the Tatar Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Musa Jalil. The People’s Artiste of Russia, Mariin Theatre and American Ballet Theatre soloist will present in the Tatarstan’s capital a gala concert of modern choreography Diana Vishneva and World Ballet Stars (15 April). On 13 April, she will appear in a classical play Giselle.
