Shaliapin Festival allows seeing best singers, R.Minnikhanov says

(Kazan, February 5, Tatar-inform). The 30th International Shaliapin Opera Festival is in progress. On Sunday night Madame Butterfly was shown by the Tatar Opera and Ballet Theatre.

President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and his spouse saw the production.

“We are often talked about as an industrialised oil region,” the chief executive noted. “But we must not forget the cultural component. The events like the Shaliapin Festival allow seeing the best singers from Russia and abroad, and to present ourselves as well.”

“We need to be versatile, we have every opportunity for that,” R. Minnikhanov concluded. “We will continue to support all events related to developing culture in our republic.”

Following the performance, President of Tatarstan thanked the lead part performer, Xincheng Yi, as well as the production’s cast and authors.
