Jalil Opera and Ballet Theatre prepares for 30th Shaliapin Festival opening

(Kazan, January 10, Tatar-inform). The 30th edition of the Shaliapin international festival will on 1 February begin at the Jalil Opera and Ballet Theatre with a premiere of Evgeny Onegin, an opera by P. Tchaikovsky.

There are three weeks to go to the opening and the direction work in the theatre is in full swing.

Tchaikovsky’s Evgeny Onegin is one of the most popular Russian operas and a classical repertoire’s gem. Parts from the opera have been performed by world’s best singers, including Fedor Shaliapin who played Prince Gremlin.

The new production of the masterpiece is directed by the well-known Russian director Mikhail Panjavidze (Moscow), who has previously staged plays Love of a Poet, Rigoletto, Madame Butterfly and Lucia de Lammermoor.
