Opera "Jalil" to be performed at Tatar Opera Theatre in five languages

(Kazan, Tatar-inform, Lucia Kamalova). On 19 September, the Tatar Academic State Opera and Ballet Theatre will open the 73rd season with the premiere of an opera  "Jalil" by Nazib Zhiganov. The show is timed to mark what would have been the outstanding composer's 100th birthday.

The opera will be staged in five languages: Tatar, Russia, Kazakh, German and French. “The production is unique in that the standard order of the pictures is altered and all the theatre’s state-of-the-art technical possibilities are used. It will be a very original and modern performance,” the theater’s producer Eduard Treskin said.

Akhmed Agadi performs the part of Jalil. Other singers engaged in the show are Alina Latypova of the Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theatre, Evgeny Ulanov of the Mariin Theatre, Kazakh opera singer Dina Khamzina and others.

“Nazib Zhiganov is a large figure, and we naturally could not but respond to this event in the life of Tatarstan and Russia. The theatre treated the date very seriously and responsibly. Zhiganov is a master who occupies an important place in the country’s musical life,” the theatre’s deputy director Yuri Larionov stressed.

The daughter of the poet, Chulpan Zalilova, will be present at the premiere, the news conference said.
