(Kazan, May 16, Tatar-Inform, Lutsia Kamalova). The ballet “Spartak” opened the XXIVth International Festival of Classic Ballet named after Rudolf Nuriev on May 16. Tickets for all shows of the festival were sold out in just two days.
A soloist of the National Opera of Bordeaux (France) Oksana Kucheruk brilliantly performed the party of Livia. Laureate of international contests, soloist of the Tatar Academic State Theater of Opera and ballet Mikhail Timaev performed the leading role. Laureate of the Russian State Award, Honored Artist of Tatarstan Nurlan Kanetov danced the party of his twin brother. Honored Artist of Russia, People’s Artist of Tatarstan Yelena Scheglova performed the party of mother-wolf.
The festival program consists of 9 best productions of the theater: Spartak (May 16,17), Gisele (May 18), The Lady of Camelias, May 19), Shurale (May 20), Korsar (May 22), Swan Lake (May 23), Coppelia (May 24), Don Quixote (May 25), and La Bayadere (May 26).
A gala-concert with participation of ballet stars will close the festival on May 28.
