The Nuriev Festival starts in Kazan

Tickets for the Nuriev Festival were sold out in two days.

(Kazan, May 16, Tatar-Inform). The 24th Rudolf Nuriev International Festival of Classic Ballet starts in Kazan today. It will take place on the stage of Musa Jalil Tatar Academic State Theater of Opera and Ballet on May 16-28.

The festival program includes 9 best productions of the theater, mainly classics: Swan Lake (May 23), Don Quixote (May 25), La Bayadere (May 26), Giselle (May 18), Korsar (May 22), Coppelia (May 24). Two new productions of the theater – the ballets Spartak (May 16, 17), The Lady of The Camellias (May 19), and also “the national repertoire pearl” – Shurale by Farid Yarullin (May 20) will be performed as part of the festival.

Representatives of Japan and Korea – Yuko Tanaka (Tokyo Ballet) and soloists of the Korean National Theatre will take part in the festival for the first time.

Leading Russian theaters – Bolshoi and Mariinsky – will be represented by Eugenia Obraztsova (Syuyumbike in the Shurale ballet), Sofiya Gumerova (Medora in Korsar), Anna Nikulina (Odetta-Odillia in Swan Lake), and Nina Kaptsova (Svanilda in Copellia) and others.

A gala-concert will close the festival on May 28. Famous dancer Farukh Ruzimatov and ballet dancer Anastasia Volochkova are expected to perform at the event.

Tickets for the Nuriev Festival were sold out in 2 days.
