Renat Salavatov

Merited Artist of Russia, People’s Artist of Tatarstan, holder of the Kurmet and Dostyk Orders (Kazakstan).

In 1969 he graduated from the Central Music School attached to the Moscow Conservatoire (cello class), and in 1974, from the faculty of symphonic conducting of the Leningrad Conservatoire (Professors K.A. Simeonov and I.A. Musin’s classes). He did postgraduate work at the Moscow Conservatoire under the direction of L.M. Ginzburg. In 1974, at the age of 25, he was appointed Chief Conductor of the Kazakh Radio Chamber Orchestra (city of Almaty). Since 2003 he has been Chief Conductor of the Tatar Musa Jalil State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet. As Music Director and Conductor he participated in the following, among other, productions: Boris Godunov, Carmen, Lucia di Lammermoor ( the production was nominated for Russia’s national theatre prize the Golden mask), Jalil (mus. Nazib Zhiganov), Turandot, Le Corsaire, The Sleeping Beauty, Peer Gynt, Anyuta.


He conducts all the productions in the Theatre’s current repertoire and appears at the Chaliapin and Nureyev Festivals. He goes on tour with the Theatre to Western and Central Europe (Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, the Netherlands, Spain etc.,).
